Power Cast Fabrication Inc. was founded in 1978 and specializes in the manufacturing of aluminium casting. The objective of the study was to evaluate the plant's natural gas usage, prepare an energy balance and identify plant energy reduction projects. Results of the study indicate three plant energy savings projects. The projects consisted of installing an economiser on the furnace stack to preheat the burner combustion air, install an air handling unit to recover heat from the furnace and to modify ventilation duct work to recuperate heat generated by the air compressor during the winter.
